EPIC FAIL - 13yr Old Site Loses All Data Because of No Valid Backups

Avsim, which launched in 1996, covered all aspects of flight simulation, with its main focus was on Microsoft's Flight Simulator. A hacker took down the site's two servers and the owners had not established an external backup system.

The site's founder stated that the site would be down for the foreseeable future and was unsure if would ever go back up.

Avsim committed a fundamental "feel good" backup policy where they backed up Server1 to Server2 and Server2 to Server1.  This is a practice that although common is in no way scalable, reliable, or even approaching useful.  Proper backup methods require a very short set of hard requirements:

1) Backups are offsite.

2) Backups should be encrypted.

3) Backups need to be performed regularily.

4) Backups should be tested.

For all the fancy features, terrific technology, customer service, ease of use, and all the other benefits of OPENRSM CloudBackup.  These four fundamental traits of a quality backup system are built in, and will NEVER be compromised in OPENRSM CloudBackup.

Avsim suffered an EPIC Fail.  And yes, they should have known better.  But we hate to see anyone suffer like they have.  Don't let your home, home office, or company lose data like this.  Get CloudBackup and protect your data.
